If you filled in the Aliventures survey over the past few weeks, thank you! I'll be using various questions, topic requests, etc on the blog and in the newsletter during the rest of 2026. I also have some new free workshops in the works for September onwards, based on survey responses.

If you've not filled in the survey, there's still time if you're quick! I'm closing it at the end of today (Tuesday 28th July).

As a "thanks" for completing it, you can choose any of my products for free (Supercharge Your Writing, Zero to Story, and Editing Essentials).

How Are You Currently Feeling About Your Writing Progress?

Each year, I change up the survey a bit. One of the questions I asked this time round was "How are you currently feeling about your writing progress on a scale of 1–10?"

The results for this have been really interesting. Responses spanned the full range of numbers, from 1 to 10. Most people fell somewhere between 4 and 7.

Unless you responded "10" to that question, you might want to ask what it would take to move up one or two points on the scale.

You might feel better about your writing progress by:

  • Deliberately practising a specific area of writing (e.g. dialogue, description) so that you feel more confident with it.
  • Finishing something smallish, like a short story or poem.
  • Committing to a small, regular writing practice for the next week, e.g. writing 15 minutes per day.
  • Giving yourself some grace! Perhaps it's been a tough year, and yet you've made some progress regardless.

Want a gentle but structured approach to making writing progress?

Fill in the Aliventures survey TODAY and select "Zero to Story" as your freebie. It's a three-week guided course that takes you through writing a piece of flash fiction and a short story. (You can go at your own pace, so you could spread it across six weeks if you like.)

Alternatively, pick "Editing Essentials" as your freebie if you've got a draft that you want to rework, or "Supercharge Your Writing" if you'd like to establish a solid writing routine.

Happy writing,

Ali

P.S. If you already filled out the survey, thanks so much! I've emailed you a link & special code to download the resource you chose for free. If you have any issues getting that resource, just let me know.
